Dogz and Catz (or Petz: Dogz 2 and Petz: Catz 2 in the US) are available on Wii and PS2. Unlike the other Petz games, you do not care for a pet cat or dog. Instead, you can choose your character from 40 breeds, and you play as them. Both games are identical, except for a few minor differences in some missions and the obvious difference in species.
You (the cat or dog you have chosen) live in a village called Pawville on an island populated by dogs or cats. You live with your father, Arvin, and your mother, Ione. Your family are the owners of the Magic Hat; a hat which is used to keep peace on the island. Arvin shows it to you one morning and tells you about it. Afterwards, you go out to play with your friend, Victor. Together, you go to the Police station to see a evil wolf named Ivlet, who has been captured.
After being chased out by the Sherrif, Ada, Victor suggests they play at Dolphin Coast and come back a night time, since that is when Ivlet is awake. After various minigames, you go back to the Police Station, where Ivlet is just waking up.
Unfortunately, he talks you into bringing the Magic Hat to him, and he steals it. Then Ivlet uses the Magic Hat to destroy most of the buildings in Pawville and make the animals outside the village incredibly dangerous. After being locked in a cage in the Police Station, you are very sorry for what has happened. Augusta, a character who lives at Dolphin Coast, convinces Ada to let you out, but also makes you promise to help clear up the damage and repair everything.
And thus, your adventure begins.
